QA Engineer Responsibilities

§ Provides input for all phases of planning and scheduling for assigned project(s).

§ Participates in the preparation of all test products (e.g. test plans, test cases, status reports, signoffs).

§ Responsible for executing test cases and raising subsequent issues to the appropriate personnel.

§ Ownership of testing project initiatives.

§ Performs all tasks with a nominal amount of supervision.

Specific job functions:

§ estimates project resources and timelines

§ creates test plans/cases based on requirements, design docs and technical input

§ provides technical and managerial leadership to team members

§ executes tests - manual and automated

§ tracks and manages defects to resolution

§ generates status reports and updates project plans

§ works closely with technical and non-technical staff including development, engineering, product management

§ configures and provisions lab equipment

Qualifications

Requirements

Technical

§ Minimum of 4 years Quality Assurance experience in a hybrid environment including linux and unix use of defect tracking tools, creation and execution of test cases, creation of high level test plans.

§ Good knowledge of Unix/Linux commands.

§ Minimum 2 years SQL experience. RDBMS experience with Oracle a plus.

§ Minimum 1 year experience testing GUI applications.

§ Minimum 2 year experience testing backend systems.

§ Able to quickly produce high quality technical documentation (e.g., test strategies, test plans, test cases).

§ Knowledge of network architecture and protocols.

Planning / Team Work / Communication

§ Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle and test processes.

§ Ability to work independently and as part of a team following established guidelines.

§ Ability to prepare tasks estimates, test schedules and to provide input to project(s) master schedule.

§ Excellent problem analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution skills.

§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

§ Ability to review project technical documents and provide input as required.

§ Ability to be flexible in project work and multi-task responsibilities.

Pluses

§ Experience working with off-shore teams.

§ Experience creating reusable scripts with Unix Shell and Perl.

§ Experience with automated functional and load testing of Web Applications including creation of scripts and management of data repositories.

§ Network/ Internet security background

Education:

§ B.S. in Computer Science or related experience
